I am fascinated by how individual and collective human decisions shape the environment. My country The Netherlands is highly designed and regulated, and every use of the land is the result of planning – although often also the inevitable end result of close to 17 million individual choices.
Recently I focus on photographing the Dutch expansion into the underground for building infrastructure. During the workshop I made a series on the commercial area of La Defense, Paris, and the contrast between its polished, shiny, public interior and the rough non-designed exterior facing the surrounding landscape.
