The initial project was to produce a story on Les Olympiades, an Asian area located in the 13th district of Paris, with the intention of integrating the residents into the architectural landscape. Unlike the reporting I usually do, which is essentially pure architecture oriented, for this project I forced myself to interact with the inhabitants of the neighborhood, trying to find a balance between portrait and urban landscape.
After a first day of shooting, talking with David about the photos, we realized that I was still far from the desired result, as the shots continued to put architecture on the first plan and gave significantly less weight to the characters. To solve the problem, David suggested that i go back to the district, find a frame that I liked, and leave the camera on the tripod. This way I could totally concentrate on the characters and find a better balance between subject and architecture.
