Richard Hall lives and works in Lincolnshire. In 2023 he graduated from Leeds Art University with Master’s degree in Photography. He is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society in Contemporary Photography. As a photographer Richard works in theatre and dance. His theatre work has an unusual approach, which involves examining the processes of the suspension of disbelief by studying the rehearsal process of theatre productions. As an example, he made images in ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ staged in Lincoln Cathedral during 60 rehearsals and 12 live performances.
Considering himself a biographer. In his personal work, he collaborates with actors and dancers to produce photobooks that narrate a story or idea illustrated with prose, archive material, or poetry.
This body of work examines the experience of being an outsider, feeling out of place with all the uncertainty that entails.
