Project photographed in Amsterdam for the Workshop : The project that I have photographed for Eyes in Progress it is about the organization called “We are here”, composed mainly by African refugees whom have been living in the street until they became a group two years ago and start cracking into empty buildings to have a place where to sleep. I have been photographing refugees in Burkina Faso and Egypt for a year, and has been really interesting to meet refugees in Europe and understand a little bit more about their situation. There have been two main ways I tried to do to photograph them, one of them have been my interest of showing where they live, and also, I have been photographing their faces as I think they all live into the shadows. Amsterdam, Netherlands, Sep. 2014.
Project “GOLD MINES: Picked Education” : A boom in Burkina Faso’s gold mining over the past four years has made the country one of Africa’s leading producers, but it is also luring children out of school. The exact number of children abandoning schools nationally for the mines is still unclear, but many schoolchildren are known to work mainly in artisanal mines where they crush stones, sieve dust, transport water and cook. Children suffer from the poor hygiene within these communities. Rondo, Burkina Faso, Oct. 2013.
