But I don’t remember much. I am not sure how to describe my work but it probably falls in the category of personal documentary. It derives from my everyday life, from family and friends, people I meet and things I see. The pictures are not staged, just moments captured.
Finding pictures is easy, they will come to me if only I am open to noticing the small things that happen around me all the time, and I keep my camera ready. The meaning of the picture usually comes later, and by having the original context removed the pictures become open for someone else’s mind too. Sometimes I see my pictures as letters to myself reminding me of what is important in life, little notes from my subconscious, always multilayered and subject to interpretation. Other days they are filled with questions, questions that I cannot yet answer. In one way they are all self portraits and at a more basal level they are a way for me to cope with anxiety, loss and unfulfilled dreams.
