I wanted to explore how night transforms people, places, and the the way we see. But I wanted to see these things in color…to see how the colors of night inform and transform how we perceive human experience. Shrouded in darkness, illuminated by artificial light, informed by shadows, the night fires the imagination to see what may not be there by day. People alone, people together, laughing, smoking, walking, waiting, finding each other, people begging, lost and lonely. At night, all take on different moods…the music of Miles Davis captures this spirit in a different dimension in haunting tunes like Kind of Blue and ‘Round Midnight.
