Christian Waegt was born in 1969 in Frankfurt/ Main where he lived and grew-up in small village south of Frankfurt. After the completion of his military service, he moved in 1990 to East Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall and before the reunification of Germany. For two weeks, we lived in the former GDR (East Germany) before he was reunited in 1990. Christian studied Industrial Engineering at the Technical University Berlin and the University of Manchester.
He made his first attempts at photography during his school years. From 2020 onwards, Christian rediscovered photography and it became a passion. So far Christian is interested in travel and street photography as well as fashion, portrait and people photography. His work is influenced by Mario Testino, Nick Knight, Anton Corbijn, Steve McCurry and Peter Coulson as well as street art and modern sub-culture.
After some episodes in UK, Southern Switzerland, and the Netherlands, Christian works and lives in Basel (Switzerland) and Düsseldorf (Germany), where he performs his photography beside his regular occupation. He frequently visits Capetown, South Africa, searching for inspirational input on modern African art and street photography.
