The world is changing, and people are finally asking hard questions about where their products are coming from. Photography has an impactful way of revealing the origin of the goods we consume and builds an emotional connection between producers and consumers. For me, photography creates transparency, emphasizes human resilience, and reflects the beauty of timeless traditions and cultural diversity. I try to capture those subtle moments between people and their craft, whether it is a farmer tending to their sheep or a master-level artist perfecting their time-honored skill. It’s the connection, their dedication, the sensitivity seen for what they do day after day, year after year, which inspires, and hopefully is something which will be passed down for generations.

This series produced during Richard’s work was far from my photography style, and a breath of fresh air.. to shoot with no purpose and play with this notion of freedom.
For the past 15+ years, I have been traveling the globe, working with artists to help create sustainable market linkages as well as more transparent and ethical supply chains. For me, photography has been an integral tool in that process. It’s become a way to inform and create connections, dive deeper into the supply chains of handmade goods, and reveal important but often hidden stories about people, from the makers themselves to the nuances of their traditional techniques to the sources of their raw materials.
