Before coming to the workshop with Michael Ackerman I worked on an assignment about a bridge in my home town in Sweden, Göteborg. I brougt a wide edit of forty pictures of the bridge. Michael chose one of them and told me that that one photo shows that I´m going somewhere.
That picture is now in my portfolio. I told Michael I´d like to put more of myself into my work. He gave me an assignment for my time in Paris, to make self portraits, to start with myself. I´m very rarely on the other side of the camera so this has been a new experience for me. I worked both outside around Belleville and inside my hired flat. I had the help of my classmate Colette Pourroy to ”push the button” in some of my self portraits. I also shot many of them with a remote or in the mirror at my rented appartment. I included a picture of me holding a photo of my daughter in my hand. Doing the self portraits have made me go back to basics.
It has been very good for me to limit my photography to myself. It´s been exhausting but I feel it´s been very rewarding for me.
