Of course, well known photographers and historical work has an important place on our agenda. But special attention in our exhibition programme and elsewhere is also given to nurturing upcoming artists. The heart of the Foam organisation is in Amsterdam. From here we develop and produce our exhibitions programme.

We manage print publications like Foam Magazine as well as all online content. Foam Editions also has its home here, offering a wide range of work for collectors. Essential to Foam is our extensive international network of photography professionals and partners. They help to plan and develop new projects, ensuring that the largest audience possible can experience the power of photography.

IPPAWARDS has been celebrating the creativity of the iPhone users since the first iPhone has inspired, excited and engaged the users worldwide. Since then every year, IPPAWARDS has selected the best shots among thousands of images submitted by iPhone photographers from 70+ countries around the world. Winners are selected by the jury members in several steps and The Photographer of the Year prize awarded. All winners are published online and will be part of The IPPAWARDS Interactive Annual series of books on iTunes.

The Rencontres d’Arles’ policy of programming almost exclusively new work has earned it a world-wide reputation. In 2010, there were 73000 visitors to the festival. The exhibitions, often co-produced with both French and foreign museums and institutions, are given on various heritage sites, suitably stage-designed for the purpose. Some sites (for example, 12th century chapels or 19th century industrial buildings) are open to the public only for the duration of the festival.

Many photographers have been discovered as a result of the Rencontres; a sure sign of the festival’s importance as a springboard for photographic and contemporary creative talent. For its depth and reach the programme draws on the points of view of numerous specialists – around twenty each year – from different fields. Sometimes part of the programming is entrusted to an artist, examples including Martin Parr in 2004, Raymond Depardon in 2006, Arles-born couturier Christian Lacroix in 2008 and Nan Goldin in 2009.
