Workshop story

by Thomas Adank (Switzerland)

Waste collectors in every part of the world take on a very important task for the society. Their social status, however, is mostly questioned and their work under appreciated. For two days I accompanied several waste collector teams in Barcelona at their daily work to capture the human and social aspects of their work.

I was born in Switzerland and work in impact finance for a foundation based in London. In the last three decades I had the privilege to travel to many different parts in the world and witness many different social and cultural environments. Photography has been an important tool to process the impressions I have gained on my journeys and is my creative balance to my day to day life.
