Nowadays, the theme is of global relevance even. Many people undergo sudden changes. Forced displacement due to climate change or conflict is one, gentrification in larger cities is another. Many people, unfortunately, don’t have the opportunity to voice how this affects them, what challenges it exposes them to and what hopes for their future emerge from it. I’d like to help shed a light on the lives of those people and other groups of society that are being marginalized.
At the workshop I started to work on a personal project that showcases the impact the fall of the Berlin Wall had and still has on people in Germany. As an initial step toward this project, I visited the traces and remains of the Berlin Wall within the city.
I also developed a storyline around another set of images I had taken earlier this year in Myanmar, a country currently facing a multitude of challenges due to the transitions it is going through.
