During my last workshop with Sacha Van Dorsen, I produced work where I really felt that I reached a new step in taking portraits as I mastered the light and created a style that I wanted to convey, although very classical. Andreas Hirsch who reviewed my portfolio encouraged me to break away from the rules and the obvious to create emotion and convey a story.
This is what I was aiming for during this workshop with Richard Dumas, I took a step away from the work done previously, using film photography, playing around with textures, background and the light around the subject to create a story beyond the model. I really feel that I have reached another step in photographing portraits towards a more personal style.
