Together, these portraits form a non-linear narrative — a constellation of moments. Throughout the process, I wanted to create visual conversations. Many of the images were designed as diptychs — pairs that echo, respond, or contrast with one another. Some duos are anchored in symmetry or rhythm, others are linked by mood or light.
We worked in freedom — choosing clothes, makeup, and locations intuitively — and that freedom is something I hope can be felt in the images. Despite the logistical constraints (shared wardrobes, limited time, many collaborators), the process was fluid and generous.
A warm thank you to Lenaig for her elegant styling, Yaelle for her expressive makeup, Véronique for holding it all together with grace, Marcus for his presence and support during the outdoor shoots, and Stefan for the sharp yet open-hearted coaching.
This series is still in progress, but these pairings already sketch the contours of something intimate and quietly strong. A collective portrait in spring light.
Pierre-Yves Lesage is a photographer based in Paris. His relationship to photography began as a child, through the viewfinder of a Kodak Ektra — a space that offered a slower, more attentive gaze. In that suspended elsewhere, the world became light, texture, silence. This shift between inner and outer perception remains central to his work today.
A strong emotional connection to images — first shaped by fashion editorials glimpsed in adolescence — continues to inform his visual language: poetic, intimate, quietly surreal. His current practice weaves together fine art, portraiture, and fashion, often captured between his studio on rue Mouffetard and the surrounding streets of Paris.
