Abraxas

by Jonathan Boucher (France)

The bird fights its way out of the egg.
The egg is the world.
Who would be born must first destroy a world.
The bird flies to God.
That God’s name is Abraxas.”

                      – Herman Hesse

Jonathan Boucher is a photographer based in Paris.

Self-taught, he turned to photography after twelve years in the fashion industry. His work is documentary in form but seeks above all to transmit a state — nostalgia, tension, desire, a sense of foreboding. What the world around us permanently holds, and rarely confronts directly.

Portfolio from the The Sensitive Eye workshop with Claudine Doury, May 2026.
