Street Portraits
When I originally returned to photography after a lengthy hiatus, street portraits were one of the subjects that helped to reignite my passion for photography. Walking the streets with a camera seemed to offer a way to cross the barrier that normally separates strangers and allow me to make a brief connection with those who had compelled my attention. Often it’s an individual’s striking clothes or style that first catches my eye, but in talking to my subjects, and making a portrait together, I find the most successful images depict a unique humanity, strength, and vulnerability that transcends their surface self-presentation.
I was born in Santiago, Chile, raised in the Washington, DC area, and I’m currently based in Brooklyn, NY. My images have been represented by Photonica (now part of Getty images), published in Fortune Magazine, USAToday.com, Boston.com, Timeout.com, and Buzzfeed France.
I’m a passionate street photographer, and enjoy making both candid images and street portraits.
