My current work is articulated at the same time around a photographic, sociological and political research connected to an analysis of identity as a social and cultural engine. I often collaborate with French press and I was the winner of Bourse du Talent Portrait Prize 2011 with my last personal work untitled « She walked towards him» (BNF – National Library of France exhibition 2012).
On the road. I met T. for the first time a few years ago during an evening with friends. At the time, he was still called by his female name. It was only a few months later I learned through these mutual friends, he decided to start a sex change procedure. We speak here of trans identity in response to the negative connotation and pathologizing induced transexualism term.
T. and I see regularly for more than 2 years. This merger, which took place in the first instance for the purposes of this photographic project he has agreed to participate, has over time given birth to a real friendship story.
T. is about to get his new identity card, the identity that is his, that he has too long denied and for which he fought so hard.
T. How will he live this “second birth” as he likes himself to name? What changes will emerge in his personal and professional daily life? What are the movements that will take place as a result of this new stage in his life? How does one reinvent or even in a country where part of the population is ready to take to the streets to others just because they are different, do not have the same rights I need regular.
I am interested in my photographic work with the gender vision of the social world and the power relations that cross it.
What are personal -expériences building mechanisms, education, socially reproductive governing our relationship to the categories of “feminine” and “masculine”? How to better understand deconstruct?
