I lived in Saint Petersburg for seven years, where I studied and graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts. I returned to France in 2012 and have since been working in Paris as an actress and photographer.
When the war began, I found myself surrounded by Russian friends who had just left their country. Our reunions were caught between joy and grief — the happiness of seeing each other again, and the weight of everything that had changed.
Many of them cannot, or will not, return. Some have not seen their parents or grandparents since leaving Russia.
Elsewhere is a portrait project following Russians who have made their lives in Europe. It begins in Copenhagen.
