Bruno Mazodier

A MOMENTARY LAPSE

by Bruno Mazodier (France)

On rare occasions in the course of history, in very specific places, unexplained disappearances of entire populations have occurred. These momentary absences of humanity in these precise places have temporarily given way to the other forms of life.

Bruno Mazodier lives and works in Paris, France.

When he was eight years old, he was a witness to a strange phenomenon : some mornings, when the sunlight hit the keyhole, the reversed image of the building opposite was projected onto his bedroom wall. This chance camera obscura might be the initial reason for his calling.

In 1993, he travelled round the world and, after publishing a photo report on Indonesian fishermen, decided to become a professional photographer. Since then, he has been engaged in both personal and commercial work for magazines and communications agencies.

His photographs have been kept in the collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France since 2008.

Portfolio from the Produce a photographic series workshop with Todd Hido, June 2024.
