Mad Honey

by Arabella Itani (United Kingdom)

My background is in broadcast documentary but photography has always been a passion of mine. Two years ago I decided to pursue a career in the field and am currently working as a semi professional photographer.

I love world cinema and am inspired by directors such as Lynch, Pasolini, Fellini, Refn, and Hitchcock. Having studied film through psychoanalysis I’m fascinated with the surreal. I love to mix fiction with reality in my images to create a story that makes the viewer want to learn more.

My photography series ‘Mad Honey’ was inspired by the Paris in bloom and the eccentricity of the people in this city. I wanted to create weird, crazy and dreamy portraits that are a type of metaphor for the juxtaposition of beauty, elegance and madness here.
