OT301 is a world in itself. In a building at Overtoom number 301 in Amsterdam, a group of artists “squatted the building” with the purpose of creating a new platform, where music, dance, cultural events, theatre, food or performances bring together under the same roof the most diverse scene. If feels free, careless and friendly, an accessible community full of characters that can seem so different, but in the same time vibe to the same tunes. My story captures a glimpse of this alternative, creative world.
My name is Ana and I love stories. To write them, to capture them in images or simply to listen to them. I think I loved stories before I even knew it and when one of my teachers asked me in College what do I want to be when I grow up, I said I’ll be a journalist, so I can tell other people’s stories, or an interpreter, because I love languages. I somehow managed to do both. My background is therefore in Journalism and media, whilst now I am an interpreter but still shoot and try to create stories in images.
After many hours of walking through Amsterdam in a weekend when Amsterdam Dance Event was on, I ended up in OT301.
