Blue Mood

by Alexander Ziegler (Germany)

Melancholy is part of everydays life. As a photographer I more and more try to find the unseen beauty between the bright and the dark side of life. Thats how I see the world and everything surrounds me. Wedding Photography is mainly seen as a bright event full of joy but people forget that we cry when we are happy. A wedding is a get together of all generations and some of our beloved family members and friends may be gone some day. In christian culture we say till death do us part so there is also a link between life and death. In chinese tradition of Yin and Yang life and death, bright and dark, black and white belong complementary together.

For me photography is highly influenced by music. I believe that strong photography has a consistant mood and rhythm which deeply inpacts us like music. Blues and jazz both get their typical melancholic character by the so called blue notes. Its a note that for expressive purposes is sung or played at a slightly different pitch than standard. Blue as a colour is in form of the Blue Flower the central symbol of romantic art. It stands for longing and love and is a metaphysical pursuit of the infinite. The Blue Mood is part of my identity and a form to reflect myself through my art.
