Director of photography, GEO France
Magdalena Herrera is a French citizen born in Havana, Cuba. She is presently Director of Photography at GEO magazine, France. Previous to GEO, Magdalena worked as Art Director and Head of Photography at National Geographic France, since the launch of the French edition in 1999.
Simultaneously with her journalistic work, Magdalena Herrera leads workshops worldwide for the World Press Photo, Fokal in Haïti, Lensculture in The Netherlands, 20F in South America, amongst others. She taught at Political Science School in Paris and at Jamia Millia University in New Delhi, India.
Thanks to her background and photographic vision, she is frequently invited to be the juror of international photographic competitions.
She was the president of World Press Photo jury in 2018.
