Dimitri Beck is director of photography at Polka, magazine based in Paris. He is also part of the executive direction team since the start of Polka, in 2008. He contributes to the magazine development, gallery and website. When he can, he leads photojournalism seminars at Sciences-Po Paris. He is part of several photo juries and animates a radio show on image at France Info.

Before joining Polka, Dimitri Beck led the Aina Photo agency in Kabul, Afghanistan from september 2004 till december of 2006. He was also editor-in-chief of the bilingual (french-english) reportage magazine, “The News of Kaboul – New Afghanistan”. He was also editor-in-chief of Webistan photo agency of Reza Deghati, international renown photo reporter. « Lors du mentorat avec Dimitri Beck, nous avons effectué deux séances d’une heure trente chacune au cours desquelles nous avons abordé les sujets principaux qui m’intéressaient. Dimitri m’a indiqué des directions en me poussant à chercher des solutions qui m’étaient propres. Il ne m’a pas imposé un regard, il m’a donné un effet miroir sur un certain nombre de series que je traitais, cela m’a apporté la reflexion nécessaire pour me permettre d’évoluer. Il m’a également orienté vers de nombreuses sources d’inspiration qui m’aident dans ma construction photographique.

L’objectif pour moi était de prendre du recul sur ma photographie de façon générale. Je ne voulais ni d’une revue de portfolio, ni aborder ma technique de prise de vue. Au final, Dimitri Beck m’a donné les clés pour avancer par moi-même sans m’imposer quoi que ce soit. Cela m’a énormément aidé et je sens que j’ai progressé à travers cette démarche.»

- Deadlines:
There is a delay of 3 days between the date we receive the photographer’s application and the date we are able to confirm or not the session with the Mentor.

- Payment:
Right after submitting his application throughout the Eyes in Progress’s website, the photographer is invited to pay the full stated price (via an email sent from PayZen credit card payment platform).
Applications can only be processed after receiving the full payment.

- Feedback/Testimonies:
Eyes in Progress will contact the photographer once the session is done in order to ask for his feedback.

- If the Mentor is not available and the photographer chooses to cancel the process, the photographer will receive a full refund in the delay of 3 days after the photographer sends his bank details to Eyes in Progress (IBAN and BIC/ SWIFT code).

- If the photographer decides to cancel for whatever reasons after the Mentor has agreed to the session, Eyes in Progress will reimburse 50% of the paid price.
